The viewing of the film ‘The Spirit” was a dissappointing experience. I have never gone to a movie with a primary purpose to review i didn’t know what to expect. Even with my lack of experience i was still able to tell of the terrible story line and over the top ‘one line’ phrases which gave nothing more than a quiet giggle.
The visual effects were good at displaying the comic book feeling of the film, although the scene where the spirit was running across the roof tops looked as though he was running on a treadmill. The good looking bacground textures and effects were pulled down by a poor storyline and bad attempts at humor.
The well known actors such as Samuel. L Jackson who plays the Octapus are forced to overact in search of a quick laugh. No exaggeration, the best part of the film was when i was able to leave.
Some action scenes were good although some un-realistic and did not set the mood at all.
Director Frank Miller, goes for every attempt to make this film work even getting some of the most beautiful women actors, example Eva Mendez. Unfortunately for him, it was un successful.
